Denny was & still is my best friend. He & I were neighbors from birth until his death in 1978. We lived in the Oak Forest area. We shared so many fun times together. He worked at Northwest Hardware at the time of his death. He was married to Hulda Lawrence, Waltrip '72. He was a dear friend and brother in Christ. Looking forward to our reunion in heaven.
Dennis was in my first grade class and we hit it off right away. Lots of fun and ready for a good laugh. Always one for adventure we got into some real jams in Elementary school. I would ride my bike to his house after school on Lamonte where Mark Howard and some other guys would hangout. We would be plotting things to do before our parents got home from work.
When Denny had his freak accident on Halloween, I think in Jr high I thought he was really strong by the way he handled it. We sort of drifted in High school but I did have science class with him my Junior year. One could be guaranteed to have a great time sitting next to him. We did not learn much but what a time we had disecting that frog etc.
How ironic I would be facing a similar accident later in life and I thought back how Denny handled it with strength and poise and it really helped me. Thanks Denny......
