I did not know him well in high school. We were in classes through the years. I do remember him because he was so good looking. I liked the mention, in his printed memorial, of his blue eyes, because back in the day, teenaged girls were "taken aback" by those blue eyes.

The story of his life is truely inspiring with all of his accomplishments and honors. Waltrip High School produced so many wonderful adults who have served their community. Obviously he was one.

Sad to hear of Steve's passing. Although I didn't really know him, after reading about his life, I wish I had.

Thank you for your service, Steve.  A short but very full life.

Steve and I lived at opposite ends of the same block in Oak Forest.  I remember his huge family.  I remember riding bicycles with him and playing together some when we were very young.  Either his family moved to a different house by the time I entered Black Jr. High, or I just don't have memories of him after that.  I do remember that Steve was a good kid and a real competitor at sports.  I liked him.  It's very sad to hear that he passed so young.

I am just now reading the wonderful comments of former classmates & freinds of Steve. I knew him as a kid, because we lived in the same neighborhood, a few streets apart.  I (like all the girls) thought he was a doll. We used to ride our bikes past his house, just in case he was outside.  He used to thrill us with a ride by with his friends too.  I wish our friendship would have lasted a little longer. Would have loved to have known the man. The passing of our old friends is never easy. Love & peace to his big family.
