Clark was a class act.  I've known Clark since 2nd grade and he was an extraodinary athelete pound for pound and inch for inch for his size.  I was always jeaulous as his hands were much larger than mine and could palm the basketball.  In 3rd grade I would always pick Clark for kickball as everyone else thought he was too small.  He would always end up making a big play and win games for us. He could do more situps, pushups and climb a rope faster than any of his classmates.  He was also brilliant with the academics and a very competitive guy all around.  We stayed buddies all the way thru Black and Waltrip as he was the equipment manager for the JV and Varsity Basketball teams.  He always had my favorite chewing gum(Teaberry) for warmups and would  tell my stats at half time and at the end of the game as he knew they were important to me.

After graduating Clark did some contract work for some small time Concerts Mike Benestante and I were involved with.  I had to force him to take pay as he wanted to do it for gratis.  Our Dad's were good friends and were the first spectators to show at Delmar Stadium to get their seats right behind the player's dugout.

His unconditional jovial attitude and quick wit I'll always remember. (not to mention those white dress shoes)  For never getting taller than 5 feet he will always be a GIANT of a guy in my mind.

RIP buddy.......

Awesome post Bob.

On the yearbook page where Clark's picture was taken from the ground looking up (you could see his white shoes), he wrote in letters the size he was in that picture..."T-A-L-L." He was one cool guy. I miss him.

I am very saddened to hear of Clark's death.  What a great friend.  I remember many summer nights of playing tennis with Clark and Stan at the Oak Forest Park tennis courts.  I also remember Clark inviting me to be his date at  our senior prom, but unfortunately I already had a date and could not go with him.

Clark and I continued to be friends for a few years after graduation and he would occasionally drop by to see me and visit while I was at work.

While Clark was small, his personality and life were huge and I'm sure his presence in heaven is even greater.
