George was a sensative soul. Always had those pink cheeks that showed his embarrassment. Always trying to say what was on his mind but never finding the words to say it out loud. George was a sweetheart. He was always so sweet to me and so gentle.
I remember Barta from homeroom the most. We had coach Baines in the girls gym so we were the only class that didn't have to sit down, if we didn't want to. George was a great guy who use like to hang out with the guys at the bleachers. I do know George was well respected because he was really a cool dude. Certainly sad to know he want be at the reunion.
we knew george and his family from being friends with his sister joy caka and her family. i was at a bank of america with my mom and i saw justin barta working at the bank. he told me that his dad died of cancer. we went to a bunch of family parties with the caka/barta family's. george was always there and having a great time being with all his folks.
George's hot rod was usually not running because of the three deuce carb setup so he bummed a ride to school almost every day. He and I were best friends from Hamilton Jr. High and I was the best man at he and Mary's wedding. We lost contact with each other after we were both married and I was unaware of his illness until he had passed. At his funeral I found out that in his final years he had come to know Christ and worked to serve his church. I wish he and I could have spent more time together in his later days. I am confident we will meet again in a better time and place.
