Carol Ann Jones of Seaside died April 11 at a Portland hospital.

Carol was born Jan. 7, 1952, in Midland, Texas, the second of Van Buren Jones and Betty Irene Thomas' five children.

Carol was married to Archie Cook for many years. The couple retired in the late 1990s, moving from Texas to Warrenton, where they owned and operated two small gift shops in the area for several years.

Carol was a member of the local chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a sweet and loving person who made friends easily wherever she went. She loved her many dogs, reading, cooking and traveling. She particularly treasured her friends in TOPS.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Van.

She is survived by her mother, Betty T. Jones of Nacogdoches, Texas; brother Greg Jones and wife Juli of Smithville, Texas; brother Travis Jones and wife Denise of Anaheim, Calif.; brother Clifton Jones and wife Rhonda of Nacogdoches; and sister Janice Jones of Portland.

A memorial service for Carol was held at North Coast Family Fellowship in Seaside on April 17.
